Czechs Rebound, Crush Ukraine 19 July 2008
The Czech Republic breezed past the Ukraine 82-36 to register their first win of the U18 European Championship for Women.

Eva Skutilova had 13 points to lead a balanced offense for Romana Ptackova's side.

The Czechs used an 11-0 run to end the first period with a 15-point lead, 21-6, and kept on adding to it throughout the last three quarters.

Ukraine couldn't find their flow at either end of the court and went without a point for over seven minutes in the second quarter.

They trailed 38-14 at the half and shot only 25 per cent while also turning the ball over 16 times.

Things did improve slightly in the second half for Fedora Kochergina's girls as they found more scoring power but the damage was already done and the Czech Republic were able to rest their starters and give some playing time to their reserves.

The Ukraine finished with 42 turnovers - which translated into 25 steals for their opponents - and no player scored more than six points.
